The Artifact has been challenging dancers and spoken word artists to respond to each other through our Flow! technique for a number of years. We've run workshops across Scotland teaching a variety of different methods for using dance and spoken word, working with Youth Theatre Arts Scotland, Argyll Youth Arts, The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance and Dundee Women's Aid.
This spring, we're now able to bring a number of Flow! workshops to the general public in Dundee, as part of the Dundee Futures Fund Feasibility Grant that we have been awarded by Dundee Social Enterprise Network, and initiative which is funded by the Rank Foundation.
We'll be delivering a series of taster workshops in Dundee in March and April 2018. These taster workshops give an introduction into the Flow! concept, inviting participants to write their own short pieces of spoken word, and learn techniques for performing it, before creating movement to match those words. No prior experience of dance or spoken word is needed - just an interest in trying something new, and a good old sense of humour!
It is £10 per ticket, which gets you 2 hours worth of tuition and also goes towards providing funds for someone less fortunate to be involved in Flow! workshops in the future. For example; some of your ticket may pay for a stroke patient, or someone experiencing domestic abuse to gain access to a Flow! workshop as art therapy.
Workshops are available for adults and young people. To book, please follow the relevant Eventbrite links below:
