We are over the moon that Dundee Social Enterprise Network will be funding the next phase of our Flow! dance and spoken word workshops. The Artifact has been awarded a Dundee Futures Fund Feasibility Grant, to allow us to deliver three new strands in relation to our education programme of dance and spoken word.
Firstly, we'll be working with Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust and the Stroke Exercise Group at Douglas Sports Centre to deliver a bespoke block of 10 workshops to those recovering from a Stroke. Through this, we aim to test how dance and spoken word can help with speech, movement and recovery in the unique context of a stroke patient.
We'll also be partnering with Tayberry Enterprises and their INFORM Theatre Group at Dundee Rep Theatre. INFORM Theatre is a group of adults with learning disabilities and they are keen to use the 8 sessions with us to create mini dance and spoken word performances that tackle the issue of disability hate crime.
Finally, this grant will allow us to promote our first set of public Flow! workshops which will take place in Dundee city centre in the first half of 2018. If you're interested in attending, keep an eye on our social media fees for times, dates, venues and booking info. No prior experience of dance and spoken word will be needed to attend these workshops, just an open mind, and a good sense of humour!
Huge thanks go out to Dundee Social Enterprise Network for this funding - it will allow us to build more research with our work in dance and spoken word, whilst also reaching more people who will benefit from these workshops.
